Captive Key Safety Interlock Switches are designed to provide guard inhibitive interlocking. This type of actuator
ensures that the guard is held securely closed and is suitable for removable, hinged or sliding guards. The Fail Safe
Switches are contained inside a Polycarbonate or Metal enclosure and can only be actuated through the lock
mounted on the outerface . Both the lock and enclosure are sealed to IP65 Standard. The actuating key is
permanently mounted in the special handle which In2tec supplies for fixing to the guard.

Captive-Key Actuator The core of the actuator is a cylindrical, hardened-steel, coded key with 2 lugs that engage
shoulders within the lock to provide positive interlocking for the OFF and ON positions. Externally the Actuator may
have the extended knob type SAF2 heavy duty knob type SAF5, lever-type SAF4 or the locking lever type SAF41
as described below. The circular mounting flange of the Actuator is secured to the guard or cover at assembly with 4
rivits, which are then consealed by the OPEN-ON-OFF decal installed for indicating the Interlock status. The knob
or handle is spring loaded, and must be depressed to engage the captive key into the lock and operate the fail-safe
switch.Click here for further details on Actuators
Lock The SAFB1 lock is stainless steel IP65 sealed which was developed for severe enviroments. It is secured to
the body or frame of the guarded equipment, within the guarded area. It's prime function is to lock the switch in the
OFF position whenever the guard is open or removed. While the captive-key in the Actuator is engaged in the lock
it's steel lugs are locked beneath the lock body rim, and are only released in the OPEN position. The lock bezel is
tampered matching the opening in the base of the Actuator to enforce accurate mating of the elements when the guard
is closed. Click here for further details on locks.
Positive Action Safety Switch The switch components are housed in a moulded, glass-filled nylon case. Operation
is positive and mechanical. the large, heavy duty contacts are mounted on an actuating arm which is directly driven by
a cam operated by the main lock spindle. this cam is indexed to the OPEN-ON-OFF postions and the acceleration
by this cammed indexing ensures fast, positive seperation of the switch contacts. One end of the contact arm is
trapped, providing a secondary fulcrum that assures full contact seperation under all conditions. All springs are
pocketed in isolated compartments, so that they can never enter the contact area. SAF safety switches can be
furnished in ganged cominbinations, in any contact configuration. They are also available seperately as general
purpose safety switches.Click here for further details on Fail-safe Switches
Enclosure(optional) The standard switch enclosure, which accommodates single or double pole switches is made
from high inpact polycarbonate or cast aluminium, and includes an integral sealing gasket and tamper-proof cover
screws, sealing to IP65.Click here for further details on enclosures
Note: Although Enclosure is listed as optional if it is not used it would be possible to by-pass the system by shorting
out the exposed terminals. Therefore use of the Enclosure or an equivalent terminal Enclosure should be used.
All SAF Systems Elements are installed with blind roll pins or rivits, so that they cannot be taken apart or tampered
with in use. The switch is pinned to the lock body on final assembly by 2 blind roll pins. All required hardware is
supplied with the system.

SAF2 Extended Knob:
Suitable for use on light machinery in clean operating conditions. The knob is black plastic with integral stainless steel key.
SAF4 Lever Handle:
For heavy duty operations particularly in greasy areas or when gloves must be used. Handle gives full visual indication of
interlock status. The die-cast handle is finished in red with Integral stainless steel key.
SAF41 Lock Lever Handle:
Same as the SAF4 handle with the added security lock and removable key. The handle can be locked in the open position
to prevent anyone starting the machine during maintenance. It may also be locked CLOSED/POWER OFF or
CLOSED/POWER ON to prevent unauthorized operation.
SAF5 Heavy Duty Knob:
Suitable for heavy duty use the Knob features a patented shroud which protects the key and prevents it from being turned
until fully engaged with the lock. This extra large knob also provides excellent grip. It is Die-cast and finished in red.
